Cyrenity Sips Winery

Founded by Shakia Williams · Hatboro, Pennsylvania

The Story

Cyrenity Sips Winery was founded by Shakia Williams, whose interest in wine evolved from a hobby into a career. She gained experience at a Virginia Beach winery, where she learned about operations and occasionally assisted with bottling, prior to developing her own wine at home using a kit. The winery commenced operations in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, on September 10, 2022. Hatboro is situated approximately 20 minutes from Philadelphia. Williams established the winery to address a perceived gap in small-batch urban wineries in the Philadelphia area and to foster diversity within the wine industry. Cyrenity Sips is recognized as the first Black woman-owned winery in Pennsylvania and the first Black-owned winery in Southeast Pennsylvania. The winery focuses on crafting small-batch, traditional wines, often naming them after friends or family members who have served as inspiration. Grapes are sourced from Italy, California, and Chile, while fruit wines utilize locally grown fruit from a New Jersey farm. All manufacturing, bottling, and labeling occur on the premises. Under the Cyrenity Sips LLC umbrella, the business has expanded to include Aurora's Vines Wines, which emphasizes sweet and approachable varieties, and KiRae Wines, offering bold and refined blends. Cyrenity Sips distributes its products through its tasting room, e-commerce, business-to-business wholesale, and participation in festivals and events. Williams aims to increase diversity in the wine industry, highlighting that Black individuals represent a small percentage of winery owners.
