Fort Lauderdale, Florida's own Victor George Spirits (VGS) is marking significant business milestones, further solidifying its presence in the national spirits landscape. The independent, family-owned company, known for its Victor George Vodka and acclaimed Fort Mosé 1738 Bourbon, recently announced a strategic expansion of its distribution network into North and South Carolina.
This latest expansion, reported in September 2025, sees VGS's premium offerings, including the innovative Victor George Caramel Vodka developed in collaboration with Victor G. Harvey Sr.'s daughter, Jolyn Harvey, reaching new markets. The move into the Carolinas underscores VGS's resilience and growing demand for its culturally rich spirits, even amidst a challenging market. To support this growth, VGS has partnered with Charleston native and cultural icon Sage “Donkmaster” Thomas, who will serve as a brand ambassador, introducing Fort Mosé and its unique legacy to new audiences across the South.
The growth in the Carolinas builds on previous successes, such as the company's statewide expansion across Florida in September 2023. At that time, Victor George Spirits brands, including Victor George Vodka, Victor George Caramel Vodka, and the gold-medal-winning Fort Mosé 1738 Bourbon, became available in all Total Wine Stores throughout Florida. Victor Harvey, Founder of Victor George Spirits, expressed enthusiasm for this expansion, noting its importance for both existing and new consumers to easily find their products on shelves.
The award-winning Victor George “VG” Vodka is now distributed in an impressive 45 states. The introduction of Victor George Caramel Vodka in January 2023 was a response to a perceived market need, aiming to offer a new, flavorful option in the flavored vodka category, particularly with the resurgence of cocktails like the espresso martini. Meanwhile, Fort Mosé 1738 Bourbon, launched in June 2022, has continued to expand its story and distribution, paying homage to the historical Fort Mose, the first legally recognized free Black settlement in America established in 1738.
Beyond expanding market reach for its existing portfolio, Victor George Spirits is also forging a new path in infrastructure. Founder Victor G. Harvey Sr. announced a ceremonial groundbreaking in Fall 2023 for The Victory Building on Sistrunk Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. This ambitious project is set to become Fort Lauderdale's first Black-owned distillery, a monumental step for the brand and the region's distilling heritage. This initiative represents a significant investment in the local community and the broader Black-owned spirits movement.
Victor George Spirits, founded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2006, exemplifies a commitment to quality, cultural heritage, and innovative branding. From humble beginnings, Harvey's vision has evolved into a thriving family-driven company that consistently delivers premium spirits while simultaneously making impactful contributions to the industry's diversity and representation. The continuous expansion and the development of The Victory Building underscore a powerful narrative of entrepreneurship and legacy-building within the American craft distilling scene.
